The Future of 0800 & how it will affect choosing/calling 03 Numbers
Mobile callers dialing 080 Freephone numbers are currently charged, the owners of 0800 numbers are paying for these calls to be free - yet mobile callers still pay. This will not be the case moving forward once Ofcom announce a long awaited change.
Inbound connections from mobiles will be more expensive per minute and the rate is expected to be around 5 times more per minute. With virtually half of all voice calls/minutes now being carried across the mobile network, the owner of an 0800 number may face a huge increase to their bill.

This move will result in some companies dropping their 0800 numbers and choosing 03 numbers where the bill for such number services will be vastly reduced compared to running an 0800 free phone service. Ofcom will be making this change at some point soon, so our advice is to consider carefully whether 0800 is the right choice and whether 0330 or 0300 could be more suited to your needs. With inclusive mobile bundle packages covering 03 numbers, mobile callers have no concerns when calling 03 numbers
